Comic Workshops

Previous venues: Little Deer Comics, Lexicon Library and Cultural Centre, Riverbank Arts Centre

There are hidden storytellers among us! But many people have the same dilemma that professional writers face when confronted by a blank sheet of paper- “I don’t know what to write!” What makes comics a great fit for storytellers is that they require only a few simple things to get started: a pencil, paper, and a basic understanding of important comic elements. A four panel comic strip is like a fun but simple writing exercise in disguise. You will be introduced to the key basics on how to create their own classic comic strip from beginning, middle, and to end. Whether it’s comical, personal or just about talking animals!

I started Sketchbook Club in February 2023. It is a free art event focusing on sketchbook play, building community and creative exploration. A comfortable and safe space to let your creative ideas shine. Whether you want to try out a new art medium, chat to other art makers, or just want to draw for the evening in a peaceful environment.

Affordable, judgement free and open to all artists in any stage of their creative journey!
